“At YoungEco, I thrive in a culture that promotes sustainable living in harmony with the Earth.”
During my time as an undergraduate, I realised that learning theoretically was not enough, so I prioritized practical learning by seeking opportunities to explore volunteer work. Throughout one semester, I dedicated my weekends to teaching English to primary students, and during a summer break, I assisted at the local library. Additionally, I became a part of the Young Eco Ambassadors, a youth environmental group, which helped me gain a clearer understanding of my career aspirations. It was through these experiences that I realized my passion for environmental education.
Thank to YoungEco, I was allowed to explore my passion in the communication field while maintaining my technical skill. With a deep understanding of productivity and creativity, I was given the flexibility to enhance my work results and establish meaningful connections through valuable partnerships.
Working in the environmental industry can be frustrating and distressing at times, as progress and immediate action towards addressing issues may seem lacking. At YoungEco, by leveraging our collective knowledge and strengths, we can make progress towards the goals of conservation and healthy ecosystems. In my current role, I find motivation in gaining perspective on the bigger picture of positivity that is occurring. The freedom to work in the youth program allows me to feel hopeful and energized. Through engaging with hundreds of youth, I have witnessed the brighter side of the future and found inspiration in the strength of the next generation's changemakers. Moreover, I am motivated to find common ground with diverse audiences, build valuable relationships, and lead with a long-term perspective.
Sothearoth leads awareness projects on environmental education in wildlife sanctuaries and assists in scientific research along the Mekong River.
